PSYCH FOR THE PEOPLe, pllc

Trauma-informed and evidence-based individual and couples therapy for California, New York, and Washington

WELCOME

I’m Dr. Wong, the founder of Psych for the People.

Whatever brings you here — whether it's exploring your identities, wanting to learn more about how your past impacts your present, enhancing your relationships, or looking for coping skills to manage the ups and downs of living — you are welcome. I am committed to working with you toward building the life you want to live.

  • Psych for the People is my business and my passion. I provide trauma-informed and evidence-based individual and couples therapy and education to people of all identities and backgrounds in California, New York, and Washington.

Trauma-informed care means that therapy with me thoughtfully and consistently prioritizes establishing safety, trustworthiness and transparency, support, collaboration, and empowerment. These qualities are integral to trauma recovery and foundational to building thriving relationships with yourself and others. Evidence-based care means that our work together is informed by current psychological research and is grounded in the cultural context of everything that makes you who you are — your identities, your history, and your communities.

I provide expert care in helping my clients navigate a wide variety of circumstances, including complex trauma, challenging relationship hurdles, life transitions, perfectionism, anxiety, and depression. I’m here with you to help you discover who you are and journey with you to where you want to be. I bring many years of specialty training and expertise in science-backed methods of healing and recovery and I love collaborating with clients’ expertise on their lived experiences and unique strengths.

  • These core values are the heart of my practice. They stem from my commitment to social justice — I believe therapy can provide space to challenge oppressive beliefs that tell you that you have to have all the answers, that you are not enough, and that you are not worthy. These values reflect my hope that we can heal when we learn to cultivate safe and authentic relationships with ourselves and with others.

    TRANSPARENCY:

I will be open with you about how I work, what I think, and what I value. In doing so, I hope to increase access to the ins and outs of therapy interventions and research.

    COLLABORATION:

I develop partnerships with people I work with, drawing from my expertise while honoring the strengths people and communities inherently hold. I am committed to continually learning with you in our work together.

    INCLUSIVITY:

Inclusivity in therapy values and affirms everything that makes you uniquely you. Our work can offer an intentional space for healing, restoration, and empowerment in your life and your communities.
